It is important to note that it is a frame designed for 65mm props only, 2-3S LIPO and by keeping the spirit of what Kabab designed. So everything is centered in the middle for the gravity, and light, so less than 50g without the LIPO (48g for HD and 42g for non HD).
In this review, I got the HD version, but expect the same results for the non HD version with more speed due to the weight of the HD camera.
So how is this toothpick ?
The frame is a real toothpick frame, simple and efficient. The frame is a 2mm carbon, and pretty solid. I’m not sure what quality of carbon they used but compared to others it is pretty strong.
The mounting holes pattern for the motors are for 11XX classic motors, so 4 holes with 9mm diameter.
You can use any whoop FC or any 16×16 stack with it.
Please note that they added an access for the USB port, and a way to put your LIPO strap securely in the frame, so nice !
Moreover I like their logo in the middle in the frame.
They have a lot of different colors for the canopy, so you will probably find the best for you.
But well this canopy is TPU one, correctly printed. You have a way to hold the antenna of your VTX securely and enough place inside to put camera/nano vtx.
They added some holes too to not overheat the VTX and to add fresh airs during the flight.
Please note that they inserted nuts in the canopy to hold correctly it the screws which is really, really nice and super useful.
Moreover there is enough place in the canopy to protect correctly any nano camera, even if the Foxeer nano predator 4 or HD camera. For example I used this canopy in another build with the Foxeer nano predator 4.
The canopy is enough strong at the base to protect electronics in a case of a crash.
Clearly one of the best canopy that I have seen, it could be used in many other builds.
The propellers are the Gemfan 65mm. It is for me not the best one if you compared to the HQProp 65mm or T65MM.
But anyway they are doing the job, as you will see in the recorded flights, but if you are looking better props, please check my page for the best props.
This toothpick is build with the good NamelessRC FC AIO 12A board. It is a good board, not so much expensive and reliable. Go to my review about this board
The motors are not best one that you could find for this build. However it is 1103 / 8000kv which accept only push props, so no T mount here.
- Height: 14mm
- Weight: about 3.2g
- Shaft: φ1.5mm
- Motor Mount Holes: M1.6 on Dia 8.5mm
- KV (rpm/V): 8000
- Voltage: 2-3S Lipo battery
- Plug: Micro JST-1.25 3-pins con
I can’t say they are bad if you look to my flights but due to the NamelessRC FC board you can plug other pretty quickly, like the AMAX one for example.
The camera is good, it is a good HD camera and I reviewed it in the past
The VTX is good (I will publish the review of it too). It is super tiny, not too much hot finally during the flight and pretty solid signal.
- Output Power: PIT/25mW/100mW/200mW/400mW Switchable
- Control Mode: BFOSD Control(RX)
- Input Power: 5V
- Video System: NTSC/PAL
- Antenna: IPEX
- Size: 12.4MM12.4MM3.5MM
- Weight: 0.7g
- Frequency: 5.8GHz 6 bands 48 channels, with Raceband: 5362-5945 MHZ
The only thing you need to do if you use some frequency is to unlock it by following the steps described in the manual.
It is basically to use 3 times the PIT mode via an inter of the radio for example.
Nothing in the box except the drone 🙂 So it could be nice to have spare props at least but well …
Otherwise you could find it with different receivers:
- PNP ( Without Receiver)
- Flysky RS2A Receiver
- Frsky ( Fullspeedrc frsky nano v2 RX)
- DSMX ( Fullspeedrc DSM Nano 2 RX
I recorded the following DVR and HD video with the camera by using the DEFAULT PID. It is really not necessary to tune it because it is already good out of the box.
All you will need is to bind your receiver via the classic ways, and assign each mode with your radio to ARM at least (so nothing different compare to others).
It is really insane speed on 3S, but it is still controllable. It is a little bit floating but I’m sure it is due to the props. But the drone is really light even with the HD camera.
Moreover the carbon, the canopy are really well protected and strong so it is a big plus to handle crashes.
It is a good toothpick, by keeping the idea of Kabab to have a real toothpick, definitively a good investment !!
Where to buy ?
You have different shops to get it, but here two:
